We respect your privacy.
Summary: We respect your privacy
We collect minimal personal information on this website. We do not and will not sell nor share your personally identifiable information (like your Name and Email address) outside of our organization.
- Comments Forms: We offer you the opportunity to submit comments on this website. To submit a comment, you must enter your name and email address.
- Newsletters: We sometimes send our subscribers newsletters through this website.
- Anonymous User Data Collection for Analytics: We connect to a Google Analytics account to collect anonymous data that helps us understand how visitors use this website and how we can improve their experience.
- Imbedded Content: This site sometimes uses imbedded content like YouTube videos.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Several times a year, we may send out email newsletters to our “subscribers”. Our “subscribers” are people who have expressed an interest in our blog or courses. To facilitate sending these newsletters, we maintain a database with the names and email addresses of our students. We use a third-party sending service to distribute these email newsletters. Anyone receiving these emails may unsubscribe from them at any time using the automated Unsubscribe functionality provided via a link in the emails.
We offer the option for visitors to subscribe to receive emails on this website.
What is a Cookie? A Cookie is a small text file with an ID tag that our website sends to your computer. While you are browsing, your website browser stores the cookie and will continue to store it after you leave the website. The cookie text file contains data that helps our website to keep track of your movements within the site and respond to your needs based on that information. For instance, it can help you resume where you left off, remember your registered login, preferences, and other customization functions.
Cookies for Comments:
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Cookies for User Accounts:
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Cookies for Google Analytics:
Embedded content from other websites
Pages and Posts on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Collecting Visitor Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to record visitor activity. Google Analytics transmits website traffic data to Google servers. Google then presents summaries of this data in analytical reports. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. We use analytics reports provided by Google Analytics to help us to see general patterns—to understand how people use this website, what content they access most frequently, and other information that helps us to continuously improve the website to better serve our users.
Who we share your data with
We do not and will not share your personally identifiable data—meaning the data you give us, like your Name and Email address—with anyone!
As noted in the Analytics section, we do share anonymous visitor traffic data with Google.
How long we retain your data
Contact Forms: If you submit your personal information through a Contact Form, the data and its metadata are retained indefinitely in the WordPress database. This is so we can export a file of the personal data you have submitted to us at your request.
Comments: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely in the WordPress database. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Registered Users: For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
To help us to manage spam comments on our website, visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
